Environmental connections to breast cancer explained in videos
06/02/2008
In New
York state
during 2001, it is estimated that nearly 80,000 people, 15,000 dogs and 8,500 cats developed cancer. Humans and pets share
environmental factors and similar forms of cancer.
A series of short video clips designed to appeal
to teens and young audiences has been developed by the program on Breast
Cancer and Environmental Risk Factors, a part of the Sprecher Institute
for Comparative Cancer Research at Cornell’s College of Veterinary
Medicine. The presentation explains the connection between breast cancer and environmental estrogens, which
come from everyday products such as cosmetics, plastics, detergents and heavy
metals, and it offers tips on what can be done to avoid these risks. Funding support for this
project was provided by the New York State Department of Health. Watch the video clips …
