Cornell Cooperative Extension's Regional Forestry Initiative instructs private forest owners in ways to optimize and sustain forest resources. New York is nearly two-thirds forested providing clean water, open space, wildlife habitat and renewable resources. Forest owners play a critical role in determining the environmental and economic health of local communities, regions and the state, said Director of the Regional Forest Resources Extension Initiative Program Peter Smallidge.
